Seizures of electronic equipment in northwest Paraná increased 51% from January to August this year compared to the same period in 2009. The amount seized by the Federal Revenue Service in Maringá exceeded R $ 3,8 million compared to R $ 2,5, 2010 million seized from January to August XNUMX.

Revenue also registered a slight increase of 2,77% in the volume of seizures in general (including electronics, beverages, cigarettes, among other products). The amount went from R $ 11,5 million from January to August 2009 to R $ 11,8 million in 2010.

Against this increase, cigarettes showed a reduction in the number of seizures, according to the IRS. Between January and August 2010, there was a 56% reduction in the seizure of cigarettes, with the total value falling from R $ 2,7 million to R $ 1,1 million.

The tax analyst of the Federal Revenue of Brazil in Maringá Marcos Luchiancenkol believes that the rigor of inspection has reduced the interest in cigarette smuggling.

The greater volume of seizures of electronic equipment was driven by the goods in greatest demand at the time. The electronic one of the time is the GPS (of the English Global Positioning System - System of Global Positioning, in Portuguese), device of location and indication of routes that became the most found by police and inspectors of the Revenue.

Notebooks or netbooks appear second in the product list.
