Brasília, 03/12/09 (MJ) - Work hard to implement the 23 actions of the National Plan to Combat Piracy. That was the recommendation of the executive secretary of the Ministry of Justice and president of the National Council to Combat Piracy (CNCP), Luiz Paulo Barreto, to the new advisers during the inauguration ceremony, held on Thursday (3), National Day of Combat Piracy.

“I am sure that the year 2010 will be transformative. We will implement everything we plan to combat counterfeit products. We cannot allow illegality to grow in proportion to economic growth, ”said Barreto. This week, the first project of the new action plan, Cidade Livre de Pirataria, was implemented in São Paulo and Curitiba. The initiative brings together a set of educational and repressive measures to combat counterfeiting and encourage the consumption of original products.

During the inauguration ceremony, Plenarinho magazine with the theme of piracy was launched. The edition is the result of a partnership between the Ministry of Justice, Chamber of Deputies and the School of Farm Administration (Esaf). In all, 15 thousand copies will be distributed in activities with children in the Chamber of Deputies and in CNCP actions.

Formed by the government, civil society and private initiative, the Council has a new seat that will be occupied by the Brand Protection Group (BPG) with the main objective of undertaking actions to combat piracy of brands related to the 2014 World Cup and the 2016 Olympics. The term of the 20 councilors is two years.
