The Secretariat of Finance of the State of Bahia (Sefaz / BA) held a seminar to present the BI - Business Intelligence - Electronic Invoice system to other departments of Finance in Brazil.
The process of transferring the technology to the other tax authorities began. The event took place in Salvador / BA and was attended by the Secretary of Finance, Carlos Martins, the general coordinator of the National Meeting of Tax Administrators (Encat), Eudaldo Almeida and representatives of the Etco Institute, a partner company in the development of the new technology. During the event, the technical coordinator of ENCAT, Álvaro Bahia, demonstrated in practice the functionalities and potential of the system. The strategy for migration and technology transfer was also presented to the Finance Departments that choose to use the solution.
BI NF-e
The new system was developed by the Bahia Finance Secretariat in partnership with the Etco Institute, through an agreement signed in September 2009 with the objective of subsidizing the extraction of data contained in the Electronic Invoices and generating information.
Having been the pioneer state in the development of the software, Bahia was responsible for disseminating it, free of charge, to other Finance Departments of Brazil that are interested.
According to the director of Planning and Inspection at Sefaz, Guilherme Teixeira, the BI of the NF-e allows tax auditors access to comparisons by sub-segment of each note, to the main suppliers of the taxpayer and to any NF-e in a more organized way and fast. 'The software will create a database to provide greater agility in the search for information from electronic invoices, being a useful way of transforming data into information', explains Guilherme.

For those who don't know: what is BI?
“The term Business Intelligence (BI), can be translated as Business Intelligence, refers to the process of collecting, organizing, analyzing, sharing and monitoring information that support business management.
Business Intelligence, or Business Intelligence, is a term of the Gartner Group. The concept emerged in the 80s and describes the abilities of corporations to access data and explore information (usually contained in a Data Warehouse / Data Mart), analyzing it and developing perceptions and understandings about it, which allows them to increase and make decision-making more informed.
Organizations typically collect information for the purpose of assessing the business environment, supplementing this information with marketing, industrial and market research, in addition to competitive analysis. Competitive organizations accumulate 'intelligence' as they gain support in their competitive advantage, and may consider such intelligence as the central aspect to compete in some markets. ” (Source: Wikipedia)
Conclusion
Companies and accountants, get ready. The implementation of management support systems, such as ERP's, is just the basics of the basics. Essential, however, not enough to compete. Intelligence is the watchword! Business intelligence and accounting, tax intelligence!
