BRASILIA - Like the cities of Curitiba and São Paulo, Brasília is now also part of the Cidade Livre de Pirataria program. The initiative is part of the National Plan to Combat Piracy chaired by the Ministry of Justice and provides for integrated work between the federal government and Brazilian cities to curb trade in illegal products.
The cooperation agreement was signed on Thursday (26) by the governor of the Federal District, Rogério Rosso, and the president of the National Council to Combat Piracy and Crimes Against Intellectual Property (CNCP), Rafael Favetti.
"Behind the piracy is a series of illegal procedures and possible crimes committed, in addition to the possibility of slave labor, child labor and crimes against the environment", explains the governor of the Federal District.
Rosso argues that it is impossible to face piracy without the integration of the federal government, the states and the police. He recalls that piracy only brings negative aspects such as the reduction of tax collection, employability and economic growth.
In addition to all these losses, the president of the CNCP and executive secretary of the Ministry of Justice warns of the dangers of drug piracy.
“Imagine the complication that a pirate medicine brings to the life of a person who is already in poor health. And the worst thing is that she consumes this pirate medicine made available to her by organized crime, ”he says.
After the signing event, the 1st Training Seminar to Combat Piracy began, which will instruct 300 police officers from the Federal District who work with the seizure of pirated goods.
