In his visit to Teresina, last Friday, for the launch of the Public Management Control Network, he defended the need for preventive actions in the fight against corruption, arguing that trying to recover resources after 15 or 20 years of processing the process is the same as "not wanting to punish those who divert public resources, who overcharge, who practice all kinds of irregularities".

Aguiar stated, in an interview with the O DIA Communication System, that only preventive and pedagogical actions with public managers have already resulted in savings of R $ 31,9 billion to the country. And, according to him, despite the delay in punishing the corrupt, the country has made important progress. The way pointed out by the TCU president to speed up the process of combating illicit practices is political reform and a new way of financing election campaigns.

The 68-year-old from Ceará, born in the municipality of Cedro, defended greater transparency and rigor in relation to public spending and enthusiastically spoke of the need to change the customs of politics and the electorate in order to truly achieve the transformation of society.
