The Guajará-Mirim public hospital is using medicines from China, without any control by the National Health Surveillance Agency and putting the population's health at risk. The complaint is from the Regional Council of Medicine of Rondônia (Cremero), after inspecting the operation of the hospital last week and collecting samples of the medicines to be sent to the Health Surveillance and to the Public Ministry, with the necessary requests for measures.

According to the federal adviser of Cremero, Hiran da Silva Gallo, who is also director-treasurer of the Federal Council of Medicine, the finding that the public health of Guajará-Mirim is using medicines from China to medicate the population is a scandal and needs to be accurately determined by the competent authorities. Among other irregularities, the advisor points out the suspicion of piracy that falls on most products that are said to be from China and the lack of information on Anvisa's authorization to use these remedies.

Hiran Gallo warns that if the legal procedures to release this medicine are not proven, the population is at serious risk. "If any patient has complications due to the use of these drugs, public managers should be held accountable and penalized," said the CFM director, raising suspicion regarding the procedures for purchasing these drugs.

During the hearing last Monday, 20, at the Public Ministry, the president of Cremero, doctor Inês Motta, and the counselor Hiran Gallo requested investigative measures to determine the provenance of the medicine and the bidding modality that the Municipality and the Secretariat Municipal Health are adopting to purchase the product.

The reports produced by the Cremero inspection also include several other irregularities, such as the hiring of doctors without a CRM record, insufficient service to the public and non-payment to health professionals.

This Wednesday, the president of Cremero, Inês Motta, and the CFM director, Hiran Gallo, met again at the Public Ministry, where they were received by the Attorney General, Ivanildo Oliveira. The state secretary of health, Milton Moreira, the mayor of Guajará-Mirim, Atalíbio Pegorini, and the municipal secretary of health, Clezio Lobato, also participated in the meeting.
