Curitiba should become Free City of Piracy

Curitiba will officially integrate, as of this Thursday (7), the strategic project “Cidade Livre da Pirataria”, developed by the Ministry of Justice, through the National Council to Combat Piracy and Intellectual Property Offenses (CNCP) , with the holding of a training seminar, starting at 9 am, in the auditorium of the Public Ministry of Paraná, in the Civic Center, addressed to representatives of the civil and military police, to professionals of Health and Urbanism of the State and the Municipality, the members and servants of the Public Ministry, as well as other interested parties. The action counts on the direct participation of the Operational Support Centers of the Consumer Defense Public Prosecutor's Offices, the Criminal Public Prosecutor's Offices and the Public Health Protection Offices, involving joint efforts by the Union, the State and the Municipality itself, which will pass to receive incentives for the creation of local mechanisms for the prevention and repression of illicit activity. At first, only four other cities will develop the project: São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Ribeirão Preto and Brasília.
The event will officially open at 9 am, with a lecture on the “Panorama of Combating Piracy in Brazil”, by Ana Lúcia de Moraes Gomes, of the National Council for Combating Piracy. Then, at 11 am, Antônio Borges, from the Antipiracy Association of Cinema and Music (APCM), will talk about the “Piracy of Musical and Audiovisual Works”. In the afternoon, starting at 14 pm, Lorilei de Fátima Wzorek, from the National Health Surveillance Agency (ANVISA) will speak about the problem of “Drug Counterfeiting”; and Newton Vieira Júnior, from the Brand Protection Group (BPG), will address the topic of “Counterfeiting Brands”. The program will continue at 16:20 pm, with a lecture by Carolina Marzano, from the Brazilian Association of Software Companies (ABES), on “Software Piracy”; while José Luiz de Mello Filipetto, from the Municipal Secretariat of Urbanism of Curitiba (SMU), will address the issue of inspection carried out by the City Hall.
