Entrepreneur João Bosco Carvalho de Castro, 28, owner of a network of gas stations, was arrested yesterday morning, after having preventive detention decreed by the 4th Criminal Court of Cuiabá. He is appointed by the Civil Police as part of a gang that steals fuel and dumps the product in the tanks of their stations.
The businessman was arrested by police at the Police Station for the Suppression of Thefts and Thefts of Vehicles (DERRFVA) in his apartment, on Rua Marechal Floriano Peixoto, in the Center, the moment he left for work.
According to police chief Diogo Santana, the gang is accused of stealing a 45 liter fuel tanker truck in early August, at Rodovia dos Imigrantes, in Várzea Grande. The bandits surrendered the driver who was left in captivity under the supervision of one of the band's members.
The victim spent several hours in captivity near the highway until the fuel was unloaded at a post owned by João Bosco, located at Km 4 of Rodovia dos Imigrantes. Then, the bandits abandoned the vehicle at the Guarita post, on the Mário Andreazza highway, also in Várzea Grande. “With the tracking system, it was possible to know the time the truck was at the station (by João Bosco) where the fuel was left, confirming our initial suspicions”, explained the delegate.
According to the head of operations, Wlademire Lima Barros, after the driver was released, the police station started investigating and arrived at the gas station that would have received the cargo. “It was enough time to be able to unload all the fuel. Furthermore, it was not the first time that stolen fuel was discharged at that station ”.
