São Paulo - Good news for the informal worker: now he can formalize himself, paying less than R $ 60 per month. With the Individual Entrepreneur Law, 160 professional activities will benefit. Among them, street vendor of food products and artisans.
The list is long. There are 11 million Brazilians. If you are a motorcycle courier, painter, electrician,
plumber, shoemaker, sells corn on the street, prepares tapioca, or is a locksmith, manicurist, animal trainer, you can leave the informality and adhere to the law.
“In the country, we have the goal of formalizing one million individual entrepreneurs by December 2010”, explains Júlio César Durante, from Sebrae in São Paulo. Individual entrepreneur is self-employed. Congress approved and the Management Committee of Simples Nacional regulated the situation of these professionals. Since July, they can formalize and are entitled to the same benefits as other workers.
“So, you have the right to retirement, sickness benefit, maternity pay”, warns Júlio. To formalize, the professional can earn up to R $ 36 thousand per year. Only have one employee receiving minimum wage or the category floor.
“The individual entrepreneur cannot be a partner or own another individual company, or even participate as an administrator of another company. The benefit is exclusive to those who open a project to exercise their activity, have a single project ”, teaches the Sebrae consultant.
Marcos Rogério Moraes wants to take advantage of the new law. He has an embroidery workshop in São Vicente, on the coast of São Paulo. The small company was opened a year ago. He had no money to legalize the business.
“Formalization today, as a company, is expensive. Around R $ 600 opening, plus taxes. All of this would be very expensive for a business, theoretically, that is starting ”, says Moraes.
The service is now free for individual entrepreneurs. One of the advantages of formalization is access to bank credit. A right that Marcos Rogério will use. He needs a loan of R $ 20 to buy a more modern machine, which works with four needles.
“Today I change the line manually. With this machine, I would be able to change up to four colors automatically, which would be better for the business. I would be able to deliver my services faster to my customers, ”he says.
The formalized entrepreneur will be able to prove the income. A document that will facilitate the opening of bank accounts, the authorization of loans and even the opening of installments in stores.
“Without proof of income it is difficult. It is a big bureaucracy. They ask for the last three bank statements. There is a company that asks for the last six statements, ”he says. Marcos Moraes embroider 150 pieces of clothing per day. The price is charged according to the number of points. Every thousand points cost 40 cents. The microentrepreneur receives service from 30 clothing companies in the region. It also serves individual customers. Like Renato dos Santos Silva, owner of a company that rents sound and lighting for parties. The team's uniforms are embroidered by Marcos. “His service is perfect. The embroidery stitches do not loosen ”, explains Renato.
In São Paulo alone, the goal of the state government and Sebrae is to formalize 350 thousand entrepreneurs by the end of next year. The formalization of the individual entrepreneur can be done through the internet, at the electronic address: www.portaldoempreendedor.gov.br. The process only takes 30 minutes. If you need, you can count on the free help of an accountant. On the website, there is a list of professionals who provide the service in your city.
“Today, without this law, I cannot, it is very difficult. But, with all these advantages, with the credit that, theoretically, I will be able to have, I think my business will go further ”, projects Moraes. To learn more about Sebrae, visit the website: www.sebrae.com.br
