This morning (10) the Special Action Group for the Suppression of Organized Crime (Gaeco) launched Operation Placebo, aimed at serving six search and seizure warrants in six pharmacies in Dourados, suspected of selling counterfeit drugs, especially Viagra and Cialis. According to information from the Health Surveillance, the counterfeiters used a kind of flour to make the medicines. Placebo has no effect on those who consume them, but overdosing the active ingredient in the drug can cause death.
During the blast, in the pharmacies Biofacker, Drogaria Mais and Drogaria Dois Irmãos, drugs were found to be banned for sale, as they are counterfeit and have expired. The crime characterized as heinous has a penalty ranging from 10 to 15 years of imprisonment. Gaeco, made up of state prosecutors in the state of Mato Grosso do Sul, has been investigating the actions of pharmacies since April this year. In addition to the blatant operations the operation will remove from the market products that have a previous finding of counterfeiting. The flagrant ones are being made in the Specialized Border Crimes Police Station (Defron).
