Goiás is the state of Brazil that has the highest rate of adulteration of gasoline. The information was released yesterday, by the director of the Petrobras Service Station Network, Edimario Oliveira Machado. "The latest report by the National Petroleum Agency (ANP) shows that in Goiás the adulterated gasoline index sold to the consumer is 6,3%, while in the whole country this index is 1,7%," he said. The high percentage of adulteration led Petrobras to carry out a blitz yesterday, at four gas stations in the capital, to ascertain the quality of the alcohol, gasoline and diesel that were being sold.
Yesterday, Petrobras teams found no irregularities at the stations, located in Alphaville Flamboyant, Setor Bueno, Setor Sul and Santa Genoveva. “We have already carried out 239 routine inspections this year, and we will continue to do so. If the inspectors find simple irregularities, the company is warned. If it is a serious irregularity, such as adulteration, we do an investigation and, if it is proven that the contamination was not accidental, the post is immediately disqualified.
“We know that in Brazil, last year, 4 billion liters of alcohol were sold with some type of tax evasion. Considering that 15 billion liters of alcohol were sold throughout the year, we can say that almost a third of the alcohol was sold irregularly ”, said Machado. The director said that, although he does not have specific data on alcohol sold illegally in the State, he believes that a large part of this fuel may be being sold illegally in Goiás. analyzes.
The director stated that, given the high rate of adulteration of gasoline, the consumer must choose a quality station and plan to always supply in the same place. “You can't stop at any gas station when the gas is running out”, he recommends. Machado informed that adulteration of gasoline is done with the addition of alcohol, alcohol with water and diesel with chicken fat and beef tallow. "All fuels, when adulterated, impair the vehicle's performance," he said.
