Nilton Servo is arrested in PR for cigarette smuggling

He was arrested in the Bituca operation triggered this Friday in the North of the State of Paraná. Another 17 people were arrested.


According to the PF, Nilton César led a gang that smuggled Paraguayan cigarettes to Brazil.

According to the PF, his three sons were part of the gang: Emanuel Servo, José Lázaro Servo, and Nilton César Servo Segundo and also his wife, lawyer Maria Dalva Cristina Martins. Everyone was arrested.

According to the PF, investigations into the gang led by Servo began in April this year with the seizure of 1.488 boxes of cigarettes that were being transported in a truck and in a cart.

After judicial authorization there were two more seizures of Servo cigarettes, a Volvo cart with 650 boxes of cigarettes and a Ford Cargo with 460 boxes.


During the investigations, four arrests were made, and 2598 boxes of cigarettes were seized. Two carts, two trunk trucks and a passenger vehicle.

Slot Machines - Servo had already been arrested in 2007, in Campo Grande. He was appointed by the PF as head of gambling in the state. His children and his wife were also arrested.


The PF found out that he had a gaming house in Paraná and Ilha Bela, on the coast of São Paulo, and that he even had contacts with President Lula's younger brother.

Politics - Servo was a state deputy in Paraná from 1991 to 1995. He ran for Mayor of the city of Maringá in 1996, but was not elected.


In 1998, he ran for senator for the State of Paraná and again was unsuccessful. In 2002, Servo obtained 12 thousand votes as a candidate for state deputy, even so he did not get a seat in that State's Legislative Assembly.

Servo was also a candidate for mayor of the city of Sorriso, Mato Grosso, and a federal deputy in Mato Grosso do Sul. In none of them managed to get elected.
