Joint Brazil-Argentina operation seizes packages of cigarettes and vehicles on the border

On the 16th, Thursday, at the beginning of the morning, at “Marco Grande”, border of the municipalities of Dionísio Cerqueira (SC) and Bernardo de Irigoyen (Misiones, Argentina), the third joint coordination operation of the Police Forces of the Brazil and Argentina, with the meeting of the corporations: Federal Police, Federal Highway Police, National Force and Military Police of Paraná, National Gendarmerie and Police of the Missiones Province.



This operation is carried out on a quarterly basis and aims to exchange information of common interest and carry out simultaneous patrols across the respective territories. Then, two integrated teams were highlighted, who crossed the border roads, raising points of unauthorized passages to the North to the city of Santo Antônio do Sudoeste and to the South to the city of Paraíso (SC). The operation counted with 50 Brazilian police officers and 16 Argentine police officers.



In Santo Antônio do Sudoeste, around 12 o'clock, at the residence of Vilmar da Silva, 43, living near the dividing line, 1.391 packages of cigarettes of various brands from Paraguay were seized; a Ford Fiesta vehicle; a Ford Escort vehicle; a Fiat / Uno S 1.5. According to a police note, these cars were used in the practice of smuggling. The owner was arrested and charged in flagrante delicto for the crime of contraband at the Federal Police Station of Dionísio Cerqueira (SC).



Nearby, 580 packages of smuggled cigarettes were collected from Paraguay in the possession of Rogério da Silva and 166 packages of cigarettes in the possession of Oraci Salete Guarda. The goods were sent to the Federal Revenue of Brazil in Dionísio Cerqueira (SC).
