PF catches 'trunk' full of cigarettes

A box truck full of smuggled goods was received yesterday by the Federal Police in Rondonópolis containing 395 boxes of packages with ten packs of cigarettes. Each box had at least 50 packages. The other products were electronics.
Four men were arrested in flagrante delicto for the crimes of smuggling and conspiracy, since the items are of foreign origin and prohibited from being transported in the national territory without invoice. Computer hard drives, DVD drives, routers, computer motherboards, scientific calculators, digital cameras, cell phones, car radios and mp3 players were also found. The police did not reveal the names of those involved or the location from which they said they had left. They were arrested in Mata Grande.
"This is a significant seizure of smuggled merchandise, which demonstrates the Federal Police's commitment to repressing this type of crime, which has harmful effects on society," said Federal Police chief Tales de Souza Frausino Pereira, head of the Rondonópolis Police Station.
The police officer also explained that products originating from misuse are configured as a predatory element in consumer relations, since they weaken the legal trade and cause loss of tax revenue by the State.
