PF holds two with almost half a million packs

The Federal Police arrested two people yesterday (09) for the crime of cigarette smuggling in the city of Missal (Western Paraná).


Early in the evening, agents from the PF police station in Foz observed a truck-trunk with signs from São Paulo parked at a Missal site. According to the corporation, several sites and farms in this city are used as a deposit for smuggled goods from Paraguay.  


When the police approached, the 26-year-old driver disembarked from the vehicle with his hands up, saying that he was surrendering and that he was carrying 900 boxes of cigarettes - equivalent to 450 packs.


The trucker also confessed that he had been hired by the owner of the truck and that he would receive R $ 2,5 to take the contraband cigarette to Km 120 of the Castelo Branco highway, in the state of São Paulo.


The driver and another person, whose function was to be a “scout”, were sent along with the cargo to the PF Police Station in Foz.
