Military police arrested Ribamar Borges da Silva, 29, and José Eudes Ramos, 20, yesterday morning, accused of selling pirated CDs and DVDs, in a commercial box located on Avenida Dr. Álvaro Soares, in the Center, near to the Municipal Market. With the pair, 903 game and movie discs were seized, in addition to 6.400 smuggled cigarette packs. They were taken to the South Police Station. The PM Kennel participated in the incident.
But what caught the attention of the police itself was the legislative imbroglio that became the case. As soon as Silva and Ramos were arrested, on-duty delegate Fábio Cafisso asked the PMs to report the incident to the Federal Police (PF), as it is a federal crime (embezzlement and smuggling). However, the PMs were informed in the PF that, as there were minors among the largest, all should be referred to the Childhood and Youth Police Station (Diju). At Diju, the PMs were again informed that, as there were, among the smallest, the drafting of the occurrence should be done only on the South Police Duty. Back on duty, the case was closed. But it was necessary to activate the Guardianship Council for the release of minors.
