Police make the biggest drug seizure of the year in Paraná

CURITIBA - A truck with 181.331 pills of drugs and 2.054 ampoules of anabolic contraband smuggled from Paraguay was apprehended by the Federal Highway Police (PRF) on Tuesday night in western Paraná. It was the biggest drug seizure this year. Asked by the police, the driver confessed that he knew about the drugs. According to the PRF, he said that he received the truck in Foz do Iguaçu, also in the West, and that he would take the vehicle to Salvador, capital of Bahia. For the service he would receive a payment of R $ 2 thousand.

The cargo was found around 21:20 pm, during a routine inspection at the police station located at km 644 of BR-277, in the city of Céu Azul. The 50-year-old driver of the vehicle was arrested.


Most of the remedies were for sexual stimulants, but there were still abortions, remedies for weight loss and antirheumatics. According to the PRF, part of the contraband was hidden in the cabin and another part on a false bottom of the so-called kitchen box, which is located below the cart and where the truck driver usually stores groceries. In the truck itself, a Mercedes Benz 1113, no other cargo was carried.


The driver was taken to the Federal Police Station (PF) in Foz do Iguaçu.
