After receiving anonymous information, the Picos Military Police seized 20 cases of counterfeit cigarettes on BR 020, near the municipality of Patos do Piauí. A garrison displaced from the 4th Military Police Battalion (4 ° BPM) went to the scene and approached a silver Fiat Uno, plate KJY - 4048, from Olinda - PE, verifying the existence of the twenty cigarette boxes , valued at R $ 15 thousand.

According to the commander of the 4th BPM, Major Vicente Carlos, the two elements in the vehicle were arrested and sent to the police station in the city of Patos - PI. Franciede de Assis and José Nilson Bezerra da Silva, who were transporting the goods, informed the police that the cigarettes were purchased in Ceará.

“The cigarettes we were able to identify are counterfeits from the US, SKIN and Derby. This US and SKIN is already routine for us to apprehend them, because we apprehended them in large quantities in the cigarette factory ”, explained the major, stressing that these packs may have been taken in the Picos region, mixed with the real cigarette.

Vicente Carlos lamented that the crimes in Picos, especially the smuggling of counterfeit cigarettes, are committed by the same people, who the police arrest, but are soon released, and end up committing the same crimes again. "Having the difficulty of making the apprehension, and the next day the elements are loose, committing the same crimes," said the major.

Inside the counterfeit cigarettes, the Military Police has already found animal feces and wooden shavings. The vehicle carrying the material was not stolen, with only a few late fees. Vicente Carlos said that the two elements detained by the police were only being used by a gang that operates in the Picos region. Both are from the city of Francisco Santos.
