The Military Highway Police seized 450 packs of cigarettes smuggled from Paraguay on Monday (7), around 22:30 pm, at km 56 of the Bandeirantes highway. Two men tried to bribe the police with R $ 30 and were arrested.

The cargo was discovered during routine inspection at a Graal gas station on the highway. The truck driver suggested to the police that “a deal be made” and called a fellow officer, who arrived a few minutes later with the R $ 30 in cash, according to the police.

The two were caught in the act for contraband and active corruption and taken to the São Paulo Regional Superintendence of the Federal Police in Lapa. The cargo is valued at approximately R $ 650 thousand.
