PRF makes biggest apprehension of illegal medicine of the year in Paraná

About 34 thousand pills of anti-rheumatic drugs, abortions and sexual stimulants Paraguayan of prohibited marketing in the country were seized on Sunday (19). According to the PRF (Federal Highway Police), this was the largest seizure of contraband drugs recorded this year by the corporation and is equivalent to 30% of what was seized in 2008. The seizure occurred during inspection at km 642 of Highway BR-277, in Céu Azul, Paraná.

The goods were in the passenger luggage of a state bus that made the Foz do Iguaçu - Curitiba itinerary. Twenty thousand tablets of Rheumazim were found, a medicine used for rheumatism; 20 units of Pramil, also known as Paraguayan Viagra; and 10 abortion pills from Citotec, hidden inside a microcomputer and a stereo.

The 49-year-old owner of the products took ownership of the drugs and was arrested in the act for smuggling. To the police, he said he took the cards in Foz do Iguaçu and would receive R $ 500 to take them to the city of Maringá.
