The secretary of the Federal Revenue, Otacílio Cartaxo, today announced Operation Gold of Fool (iron pyrite, which looks like gold and ends up deceiving the unsuspecting). It is a new inspection offensive, which will centralize efforts in a restricted group of large companies, such as the financial, beverage, cigarette and fuel sectors.

Revenue is eyeing contributions such as Social Contribution on Net Income, and Corporate Income Tax (IPRJ). The suspicion is that the amount not collected has contributed to a global drop of R $ 35 billion in this year's total.

146 companies were selected, of which 20 had the biggest drop in PIS / Cofins revenue; 53 collected less Corporate Income Tax and Contribution on Net Income. Among these companies, XNUMX offset the higher volume of taxes in the last five years according to Cartaxo. The operation will start this month and will continue until December.

“We will give priority to analyzing the quality of the tax credit. It means analyzing whether it is legitimate and has an irrefutable legal basis. Today there is a lot of tax planning with fragile theses. In the square, there is a huge shelf of these theses that the IRS later wins in court. Certainly these doubtful credits will be analyzed ”.

In the case of assessment, the fine amounts to 75% of the tax due. If fraud is proven, this percentage can be increased by 150% and the directors will respond for tax crimes. (Agência Brasil)
