SÃO PAULO - Adherence to the Public Digital Bookkeeping System (Sped) generated savings of at least R $ 30 thousand per year to Usiminas. The information was passed on last Tuesday (16) by Emmanuel da Silva Franco, coordinator of the project to implement the standard in the company, during the 3rd National Forum of Sped and NF-e, held in São Paulo by the Brazilian Federation of Corporate Law (Febracorp).
According to the executive, restraint refers only to the extinction of the making of microfiche, replaced by digital versions. “I am always asked what the economy is. This is one of them ”, he said during a lecture, adding the existence of other undisclosed cost reductions - more strategic.
Sped operates in three areas: Tax, Accounting and Electronic Invoice (NF-e). As the IRS invited companies to participate in the pilot project of the system, all processes have already been adopted at Usiminas for at least a year and a half - long before the deadline and the average adhesion of Brazilian companies. To give you an idea, in the case of Sped Contábil, the first official transmission of the archives ends at the end of June.
According to Franco, the substitution of physical material for digital material also saves space. In 2006, Usiminas generated almost four thousand microfiche, each containing 175 pages of the daily book. Over 686 thousand pages were microfilmed. “If we were to stack these pages, we would reach a height of 42 meters”, he compared.
In addition, one of the main gains of the company was in operational management. In the case, again, of Sped Contábil, a monthly file is approximately 300 megabytes in size, representing a total of three million releases. The generation of this document takes around 40 minutes.
The validation, after the adjustments, lasts 25 minutes, with the transmission being carried out in eight minutes. “This is during normal Internet usage hours. Nobody had to access it during off-peak hours, ”he commented.
