Three municipalities have already been targeted by Operation Topázio 6, which aims to inspect pharmacies with suspected irregularities within the state. Ten establishments were closed and more than 700 kilograms of irregular medicines were seized. Three people were arrested for falsifying medicines. The operation continues in the northeastern region of Pará.

On Wednesday (8), the first day of the action, the inspection seized 200 kilos of drugs in Vigia. They are herbal medicines, hospital medicines, medicines without registration, explains the president of the Pará Regional Pharmacy Council, Daniel Costa. Four pharmacies were closed, but there were no prisoners.

This Thursday (9), the apprehension was greater, more than 500 kilos of irregular medicines. Five pharmacies were closed and three people were arrested. The owners were charged with selling counterfeit drugs. We even found in one of the establishments the drug duratteston, for hormonal treatment, but which is used as an anabolic, informed Costa.

The operation also visited the municipality of Capanema, in the same region, where another pharmacy was closed. To escape inspection, some establishments closed their doors before the operation arrived. At least five closed their doors, because they know that we can only enter if I have ordered, explains the president of the CRF.

He explains that most drug seizures have the same characteristic. They are always herbal medicines, counterfeit or smuggled and even hospital, sold in these pharmacies.

The operation should visit two more municipalities in this region later this week.

The operation is carried out by the Regional Pharmacy Council, Anvisa and the Special Operations Nucleus of the Federal Highway Police.
