Original week CuritbaOrganized by the National Union of Tax Analysts of the Federal Revenue of Brazil (Sindireceita), with the support of ETCO, the event is part of the national campaign “Viva a Originalidade: Pirata tô fora!”, Launched by Sindireceita in 2005. The opening ceremony , held on 9/12, was attended by several local authorities.

The activities that are part of the Original Week aim to sensitize society about the valorization of ideas, attitudes, projects, original products, fight against smuggling, piracy, embezzlement and also aim to show the importance of taxes. The initiative also seeks to show citizens the risks and losses that piracy causes to the country and the entire population.

For the President of Sindireceita, Sílvia de Alencar, this activity is essential to arouse the interest of society on the subject. “Piracy is a crime and must be treated as such. Society today normalizes this type of crime and offenders take advantage of it to profit, maintaining a market that causes the country to lose billions and stop generating jobs ”, he explains.

During the week, lectures and actions will be held with the objective of bringing fiscal education to all sectors of society, especially to elementary school students. Among the actions, the lectures by the Tax Analyst and Director of Sindireceita, Moisés Hoyos, are foreseen. “It is important to educate at an early age on these issues, so that piracy does not continue to be treated as something natural in new generations. The child needs to understand the damage of buying sneakers, games and other pirated or counterfeit goods ”, says Hoyos.

Sindireceita launched the National Campaign “Pirate: I'm out! Original use only ”in 2005, at the Ministry of Justice, in Brasília, DF. Since then, several actions have been carried out across the country. The Campaign was also included, in a report of activities of the Ministry of Justice, among the main educational actions underway in Brazil and integrated the Olympic effort for the candidacy of Rio de Janeiro as a city host of the games in 2016. A detailed report of the Campaign's actions was sent, at the request of the Rio 2016 Bid Committee, to the headquarters of the Olympic and Paralympic Games in Lausanne, Switzerland. The Brazilian Olympic Committee (COB) sent a memorandum to the International Olympic Committee (IOC) in which Brazil is committed to respecting intellectual property during the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro. According to the COB, Sindireceita's support was fundamental in terms of the IOC's requirements regarding trademark protection.

Since its launch, the “Pirate: I'm out. Only original use! ” triggered reactions across the country. In recent years, Sindireceita has received hundreds of requests for the use of the brand, production of materials and participation in actions to raise awareness among society and fight against piracy. Every day, the mobilization of educators, microentrepreneurs and representatives of multinationals and professional associations that are interested in helping to combat piracy in Brazil also increases.

The campaign was born precisely from the perception of the Tax Analysts of the Federal Revenue, who work in border regions and who seize increasing volumes of pirated products. Initially, the goal was to broaden the debate and show that piracy causes serious problems for Brazil. At that time, piracy entered the category's debates and became a national concern. It was noticed that, in addition to the increase in seizures, the diversification of pirated products also grew. There was no longer just talk of CDs and DVDs. Tax Analysts increasingly apprehended medicines, agricultural products such as pesticides, toys, glasses, clothing, vehicle parts, that is, an infinity of pirated products that bring real risk to the population's health.
