Initiative of the National Council to Combat Piracy (CNCP) aims to recognize public and private entities that stood out in the effective fight against piracy and the illegal market

Registration is now open for the National Piracy Combat Award (PNCP), an initiative of the National Council for Combating Piracy and Intellectual Property Offenses (CNCP). The objective is to recognize public and private entities that stood out in the effective fight against piracy and the illegal market, aiming to bring greater visibility to the issue.

ETCO plays an important role in supporting CNCP's activities to combat piracy and illegal trade. The two entities, for example, are partners in the Cidade Livre de Pirataria Program, which already has the participation of nine important Brazilian municipalities.

Entries run from August 15 to October 15 and may be applied for in the period between August 1, 2012 and September 30, 2013, in any region of Brazil.

PNCP 2013 is divided into three categories:

1) Actions on the educational / preventive axis - aimed at raising awareness among consumers and public bodies;

2) Actions on the economic axis - proposals aimed at strengthening the business and legal security environment in Brazil, including the digital environment, with regard to intellectual property rights;

3) Repressive axis actions - projects that improve measures to repress infringements against intellectual property.

A committee formed by the president of the CNCP and other guests - all knowledgeable about the topic - will judge the actions presented, and each of them will individually define their scores. The evaluation criteria will be: impact and benefit to society; impact and benefit to the economy; initiative innovation and creativity; planning and coordination; potential for example and motivation. The grades will range from zero to five.

In addition to the winners in each category, all registered actions that exceed the minimum score of 2,5 will be divided according to the geographic regions of Brazil where they were implemented. The stock with the best score will be recognized as a Regional Highlight.

The award ceremony will be held on December 3, in Brasilia, and the winners in the three categories and regional highlights will receive trophies and / or recognition plaques, in addition to having their work published throughout the country through CNCP, their advisers and partners.
