ETCO's executive president, Edson Vismona, participated in June in the virtual event that marked the launch of the Guide to Good Practices and Guidelines for Electronic Commerce Platforms to Avoid the Sale of Illegal Products. The publication was an initiative of the National Council to Combat Piracy and Crimes Against Intellectual Property (CNCP), an agency linked to the Ministry of Justice that brings together government members and civil society representatives in the search for solutions to combat these crimes.

The objective of the Guide is to establish a model code of practice and conduct to be adopted by all characters included in the digital consumption chain, which will in the future be signed by adherent companies signatory to this commitment against the sale of illegal products - counterfeit, counterfeit or smuggled - through the Internet.

The publication highlights the damage caused by the sale of illegal products and guides platforms on procedures to prevent and combat this type of trade. Remember that illegal products harm: consumers, who are at risk of buying low quality or even dangerous products; the values and reputation of counterfeit brands; and the reputation of the e-commerce platforms themselves.
