Every 6 min, PRF seizes a packet of cigarettes in the state

Every six minutes, on average, the Federal Highway Police (PRF) apprehends a package of smuggled cigarettes from other countries on the highways of Mato Grosso do Sul. According to a balance released on Tuesday (3), since the beginning of the year, 556 thousand product packages, which represents 7,9 seizures per month, 794 per day and 11 every hour.


Along with cigarettes, the vehicles that transported contraband were also seized in the PRF's actions. In 2010 alone, 20 carts were collected by road policemen because they were taking these goods.


The most recent apprehension occurred on BR-060, in Camapuã, around 16 pm on Monday (2). The JMM-2479 cart, which was driven by DM, was seized with 400 cigarette boxes.


Asked about the contraband cigarette, he said he was taking the goods to a city in the interior of São Paulo. Arrested, he was sent with the vehicle and cargo to the Federal Police Superintendence in Campo Grande.
