The view of great tax experts brought together by ETCO on legal uncertainty

They addressed the causes and solutions to one of the problems that most affect companies in Brazil

On June 25, 2019, ETCO held in São Paulo the Seminar on Taxation and Legal Security, which brought together great jurists to discuss solutions to the problems of the Brazilian tax system.

Heleno Torres, professor at the Law School of the University of São Paulo (USP), spoke about the points that should guide the improvement of the Brazilian tax system, including the conflict resolution in tax proceedings.

Roberto Quiroga, lawyer and professor at the Fundação Getúlio Vargas School of Law in São Paulo (FGV Direito SP), gave a lecture on the interpretation of the legal norm.

Humberto Ávila, also a professor at USP, addressed the principles of tax legal certainty and its relationship with economic development.

Hamilton Dias de Souza, lawyer and advisor to ETCO, presented a critical view of the tax reform proposal under discussion in the National Congress (PEC 45).

Gustavo Brigagão, professor of law and president of the Brazilian Association of Financial Law (ABDF), addressed the international tax challenges facing the technological innovations of the XNUMXst century.

The seminar was coordinated by the chairman of the ETCO Advisory Council, Everardo Maciel. The opening was made by the Executive President of the Institute, Edson Vismona, and the closing, by the President of the Board of Directors, Victorio De Marchi.

The event was supported by Ajufe (Association of Federal Judges of Brazil), ABDF and CESA (Center for the Study of Law Firms).
