Almost two years without inspection, due to the lack of renewal in the agreement with Lapetro - from the Federal University of Piauí (UFPI), the National Petroleum Agency (ANP) returned to record sales of adulterated fuel in the State. 227 fuel samples were analyzed in September, with four non-conformities (1,76%) found, as indicated by the monthly quality bulletin made by the agency.

According to the survey, the gasoline adulteration index in Piauí last month was 1%, almost the same as the national index: 1,4%. The rate of adulterated diesel in the state was around 2%. The alcohol non-conformity index, in Piauí's gas stations in September, was 3,3%, the third in the Northeast and the eighth in the whole country. In relation to the national average (1,6%), the percentage of the State was almost double.

The data on adulteration of fuels in Piauí, according to the bulletin, still has the aggravation of having been calculated only in a single month: September. All other results cited in the survey refer to the July / August / September quarter. But, because the new contract with UFPI was only signed on September 1, it was not monitored in the past months, says a note from the ANP.

According to the figures, Piauí alcohol sold at gas stations pumps is not just more adulterated than the following states: Roraima (60%); Acre (50%); Rondônia (22,4%); Amazonas (6,4%); Mato Grosso do Sul and Paraíba (4,3%, both); and Maranhão (4,1%). Lapetro's director, Professor Fontenele, could not be reached for comment.
