After seizing a cart with 43,8 thousand packages of cigarettes last Thursday morning, police officers from the Border Operations Department (DOF), once again seized a large volume of this type of contraband, another 114 thousand packages of cigarettes in two carts. The seizures took place in the Três Lagoas region.

According to a note from the DOF, around 14:30 pm on Thursday, a team in action on the MS-158 highway approached the Iveco cart, plates HRO-6887, from Dourados, linked to the semi-trailer plates AHR-7709, from Mundo Novo, driven by Heder Alessandro da silva, 28 years old and the VW / 18.310 refrigerator cart, plates JZO-3815, from Cuiabá (MT), coupled to the trailer plates LZW-5083, from the same city, whose driver managed to escape.

In an inspection of the vehicles, DOF police found 45 cigarette packs in the first cart. The VW wagon was seized in the urban region of Três Lagoas, with over 69 cigarette packs.

On the same highway, the police approached the GM / Astra, AJC-9716 plates, from Itaquiraí, led by Paulo Cezar Bresciani, 46, a resident of Eldorado, who confessed to the team to act as a “scout” for cigarette loads.
Heder and Paulo received voice of arrest and were sent along with vehicles and cargo to the Federal Police Station of Três Lagoas, for appropriate measures.

With the previous seizure of 43,8 thousand packages of cigarettes, the DOF completed, in less than 24 hours, 157,8 thousand packages of smuggled cigarettes from Paraguay. (EL)
