PB: family is condemned by Justice for conspiracy

JOÃO PESSOA - The Federal Court of Paraíba sentenced businessman Daniel dos Santos Moreira, known as Daniel da Coroa, to 42 years in prison, in addition to a fine of R $ 979,2 thousand, for conspiracy, corruption of public officials, forgery of Industrialized Products Tax (IPI) stamps and money laundering. The businessman's wife, son and brother were also convicted of crimes that were committed in nine states.


The businessman received, last week, from the Legislative Assembly of Paraíba, the Medal Governor Antônio Mariz commendation, which generated a note of repudiation from the Federal Public Ministry.


For Justice, the father, the son and the mother, were the owners of the company Engarrafamento Coroa Ltda., And they led a criminal organization that evaded taxes, through the forgery of stamps of Tax on Industrialized Products (IPI). According to the prosecutor, they opened fake companies and corrupted tax officials.


Eliezer dos Santos Moreira, Daniel da Coroa's brother, and José Valdistélio Garcia, were condemned for indirect participation as foreheads.


Maria Madalena Braz Moreira, the businessman's wife, was sentenced to 32 years and 3 months in prison, and a fine of R $ 532,8. The couple's son, Raniery Mazzilli Braz Moreira received a sentence of 38 years and 6 months, in addition to a fine of R $ 524.880,00. José Valdistélio Garcia (29 years, 5 months and a fine of R $ 33,3 thousand) were also convicted, and Eliezer dos Santos Moreira (32 years, 3 months and a fine of R $ 33,3 thousand). The court also ordered the loss of several properties, an aircraft, a Jaguar vehicle, and several jewels of the convicts.


After the seizure of a large quantity of drinking from the illegal bottling company, the Federal Public Ministry, the Federal Police and the Federal Revenue Service, triggered Operation Catuaba.
