The products were stored in a house located on Rua Asçucena, in the São Francisco neighborhood, in Cuiabá.

Police from the Intelligence Service of the 9th Military Police Battalion (BPM) seized this Sunday (11.07), around 9 am, approximately 6,5 packages of contraband cigarettes. The products were stored in a house located on Rua Asçucena, in the São Francisco neighborhood, in Cuiabá.

The apprehension was the result of a complaint made by Dial Police 190, that a person had kept 140 boxes inside his residence, each containing about 60 packs of cigarettes. According to a sergeant PM, a member of the Intelligence Service, the information was received on Saturday night. Since then, a 9th BPM garrison has set up a bell near the house.

"Our team remained on site, in an attempt to catch the person responsible for the illegal product in the act," said the sergeant. The police stayed in the region until around 9 am today. “We were on alert until the materiality of the fact was confirmed. After informing that the person responsible for the product had already been informed that the PM was aware of the existence of the contraband, we entered the enclosure to collect the material ”, reported the police officer.

The cigarettes were located in one of the rooms, which was empty. According to the police, no one was arrested and the goods were sent to the Central de Flagrante, located on Avenida Prainha, in the capital.

The PM had to use five vehicles, four from the 9th BPM and one from the Environmental Police Battalion, to transport the products. “We were unable to arrest the suspect in the act. However, we already have enough information about him, and his detention is a matter of time, which will answer for smuggling, ”said the sergeant.
