Police officers from the SIG (General Investigations Sector) of the Carapicuíba Section seized 500 packs of cigarettes during cargo theft investigations in the region. The seizure was made in a warehouse located in Itapecerica da Serra.

According to the investigators of the SIG team E - Glauco and Flavio - after receiving information about the warehouse that would be used to store the smuggled cargo, they went to the site to check the information.

At the site the team set up a bell and through a neighboring shed they could see several boxes of cigarettes.

Even with the finding of the merchandise, the investigators continued to campaign, to try to detect the possible ones involved in the illegal action. However, the police believe that when they noticed the approach of vehicles, close to the shed, the people involved fled.

Faced with the facts, investigators entered the shed and seized the boxes with 500 packs of cigarettes. The police believe the cargo was smuggled from Paraguay.

The case was registered by Chief Constable Ednelson Jesus Martins who explained that the case will continue to be investigated. "Now, we are going to find out who owns the place, so that we can reach those involved in smuggling," he said. (maranhão)
