Police seize more than two thousand packs of smuggled cigarettes

On Thursday, 15, the Military Police seized more than two thousand packs of cigarettes in Catanduvas. There was police chase, the cargo was found in a Vectra vehicle, MBD8626 plates from Tubarão. Police continue to search for the driver of the car, who fled into the woods.

At around 17:30 pm, the PM and the Federal Highway Police chased the vehicle along BR 282. The two thousand packs of cigarettes were inside the Vectra, which was without the rear seats and the hitchhiker to hide the cargo. Cigarettes were also found inside the doors, front and rear bumpers, under the dashboard and in the trunk.

The chase was on the Jacutinga Line, in the interior of Catanduvas. The runaway vehicle started to have problems with oil leakage caused by the very irregular route. So the police found the abandoned car with the smuggled cigarette packs.

In order to remove the seized vehicle, two tractors and a winch were needed. Police officers stepped up patrolling highways and urban areas to combat smuggling and preserve public order. And they guide the population to report on the useful numbers 190 - Policia Militar, 191 - Policia Rodoviária Federal.
