Fuel dealer stations may be required to use tax-coupon-issuing equipment (ECF) integrated with the fuel pump's supply meter, as proposed on Tuesday (11) by the Economic Affairs Commission (CAE).

The intention of the then senator Expedito Júnior (PR-RO), when proposing the measure (PLS 670/07), three years ago, was to streamline the procedure for issuing tax coupons in the supply of fuels. In addition, according to him, the measure would contribute to reduce tax evasion.

Senators Francisco Dornelles (PP-RJ), Adelmir Santana (DEM-DF) and Delcídio Amaral (PT-MS) highlighted the importance of the proposal for combating frauds eventually detected in the fuel resale sector.

However, they warned of possible practical difficulties in complying with the requirement in small towns in the interior of the country. As the project will still be examined, terminatively, by the Environment, Consumer Protection and Inspection and Control Commission, they suggested a more rigorous analysis, in this collegiate body, of the impact of the measure in establishments located in small cities.
