SÃO PAULO - José Serra (PSDB), governor of São Paulo, on Tuesday (4) classified the possibility of Luiz Inácio Lula da Sila (PT) competing for a third presidential term, after participating in an event promoted by the Brazilian Institute of Competitive Ethics (ETCO), at the University of São Paulo (USP), in São Paulo.

“There is no possibility of the third term. It is an issue that is not posed. It has neither a foot nor a head. The president himself said so. I believe and I have no reason to doubt ”, said the governor.

Serra said that “a proposal as it stands would be unreasonable” and added: “Lula is an intelligent man, without a doubt”.

As for his performance in the Datafolha poll (which placed him in first place, with 37% of the voting intentions for Lula's succession in 2010), Serra guaranteed that he is focused on his job as governor of São Paulo, but did not hide his optimism .

“It is always good to be in charge of research. There is still a long time until 2010. I was elected to be governor and not a candidate. So I just look at the results. My actions are aimed at the government of SP and respond to the expectations of our population. São Paulo is a complex state, we have to work hard and thinking about the election would hinder this work ”, said Serra.
