About seven million counterfeit DVDs were seized last Wednesday in Taguatinga (DF). According to the delegate of the 24th Civil Police District of the Federal District (Ceilândia), Jonatas José Santos Silva, this is, for now, the “biggest apprehension of counterfeit DVDs of the year in the Federal District”.

The media were apprehended at an import fair in Taguatinga. According to the delegate, the agents arrived at the scheme when they carried out an operation in Ceilandia, last Sunday, when a smaller number of DVDs were seized at a permanent fair in the Setor O neighborhood. “On this occasion we discovered that the suppliers of the Sector O fair were from Taguatinga, ”he said.

In addition to the DVDs, printers were seized in three laboratories where the titles were falsified. Six people were taken to the police station, gave statements and were released. Delegate Silva believes that the scheme is led by a gang that would still supply counterfeit DVDs to other locations such as Samambaia, São Sebastião and Santa Maria.

The operation involved about 80 agents, including civil police and agents from the Federal District Inspection Agency (Agefis). According to the delegate, six trucks were used to transport all the seized goods to the police station. The case is investigated by the 24th DP.
