Brasília - Petrobras' chief executive, Aldemir Bendine, said on Monday that the oil company is taking all appropriate and necessary measures to ensure the full return of losses resulting from corruption in the company.

Bendine's speech occurred during an event in Brasilia that marked the return of a small part of the amounts diverted. On the occasion, the symbolic delivery of 157 million reais was made to the state-owned company. As investigations and plea bargaining unfolded, the Federal Prosecutor's Office said it already guaranteed that R $ 570 million will be returned to Petrobras and the Union, due to corruption involving the company - the deadline for returning these amounts was not mentioned by the authorities at the event.

According to prosecutor Paulo Galvão, a member of the Lava Jato task force, another 500 million reais are blocked in court and need to await the conclusion of the actions before being transferred to Petrobras and the Federal Government. The total accounted by Petrobras in losses on corruption exceeds 6 billions of reais, according to information published in the 2014 balance sheet. “We will be looking for full reparation,” said Bendine, in a speech.

On Friday, the state-owned company informed that it will enter as a co-author of the Federal Public Ministry in actions of administrative improbity against contractors and executives involved in the corruption cases investigated by the Lava Jato operation, asking for reimbursement of almost 1,3 billion reais.

Other actions of the kind will be taken, aiming at the reimbursement of more values, said Bendine, adding that the ceremony in Brasília on Monday indicated that “Petrobras is on the right path to overcome the crisis”.
