Parliamentary Front promotes debate on piracy in Santa Catarina

For the secretary of Sustainable Economic Development SDS, Paulo Bornhausen, fighting the market for pirated products is fundamental for the development of the economy of Santa Catarina. "The debate is important to understand the extent of piracy in the State and, based on this information, we work to show the population that the consumption of pirated products affects everyone, directly and indirectly, by compromising the economy", he evaluated.

The itinerant session was conducted by the president of the collegiate of the Front, federal deputy Guilherme Campos. The opening of the works was in charge of the president of ALESC, Gelson Merisio. To participate in the debate, representatives of the main sectors affected by the circulation of pirated products - industry were invited; trade; technological, optical, sports sectors; in addition to representatives from universities and municipalities. The initiative has the support of the State Government, through the State Council to Combat Piracy, an organ linked to the Secretariat for Sustainable Economic Development (SDS).

Focus on education - The State Council for Combating Piracy in Santa Catarina (CECOP / SC) works to educate the population in order to clarify what piracy is and how it affects citizens' lives. For this year, training actions are planned in public and private schools and in companies and institutions. "With the clarification of the population on the subject, we will have better results in the repression of piracy and tax evasion", pointed out the president of CECOP / SC, delegate Wanderley Redondo.

The council is made up of 34 institutions and involves four state departments - Sustainable Economic Development, Education, Finance and Public Security. The institutional mission of CECOP / SC is to promote and coordinate public and private policies, of an educational and institutional nature, aimed at preventing and suppressing intellectual property violations.
