Individual Microentrepreneur Program brings 5 ​​million workers to formality

The number of enrollments of self-employed workers, registered as an individual entrepreneur, exceeded 5 million. The mark reached on June 13 was announced by President Dilma Rousseff, this Wednesday morning (17), at the Planalto Palace, in Brasília. The data shows the accumulated since July 2009, when the Individual Microentrepreneur Program (MEI) was launched.

During an announcement, the president stressed that MEI is an unquestionably successful program. “MEI guaranteed dignity, power and autonomy for millions of Brazilians who started to have their business formalized. There are 5.090.104 entrepreneurs enrolled in the MEI since its creation six years ago, which means a daily average of more than 2.300 enrollments, or 97 enrollments per hour, ”he said.
