Brazil loses R $ 100 billion a year with smuggled and counterfeit products

Cigarettes lead the ranking of smuggled products seized by the IRS (67%), followed by electronics, computer products and even medicines. In addition to causing damage to the market, smuggled products are also harmful to the health of buyers. According to the president of the Institute of Economic and Social Development of Borders, Luciano Barros, the tax burden of items being smuggled to combat smuggling should be reevaluated.
